I am trying to find some books that realistically depict middle class life in the 1940-1950's. I have recently discovered that the 20-30 year old generation can not even conceive of life before tv and technology and much of the hands on basic life skills are disappearing.

So if you can reccomend anything that describes the average Joe's life back then I would really appreciate it.

This question appears to be off-topic because it is about history book recommendations, not academia. – ff524 Mar 27 '14 at 13:53
This question appears to be off-topic because it is about asking for a list. – Tom Au Mar 27 '14 at 14:35
The Help Center makes it clear that both requests for references and requests for lists are out of scope. Interesting question, but H:SE is not the right forum. – Mark C. Wallace Mar 27 '14 at 14:36
