Is there a good English-language book about Haile Selassie's rise to power? I'm particularly interested in the strife he had with the various other nobles.

The only book I know is The Emperor: Downfall of an Autocrat by Ryszard Kapuscinski and while it concentrates on the later years, it does have a little about his rise to power. Hence why this is a comment instead of an answer. – Sardathrion Jun 13 '12 at 13:01

@Sardathrion 's suggestion as well as a number of others are already listed on Haile Selassie's Wikipedia page. – coleopterist Dec 12 '12 at 3:34
