The native peoples of North America, sometimes referred to as American Indians or First Nations.
The native peoples of North America, sometimes referred to as American Indians (generally in the US) or First Nations (generally in Canada). These widely-varying groups range from the Canadian Arctic in the north to the Rio Grande in the south. (Those living further south are generally considered part of Mesoamerica.)
The inhabitants of the farthest north - the groups known as Inuit/Eskimo/Yupik - are sometimes included and sometimes excluded. In the United States, the term "Native American" generally includes them. In Canada, the term "First Nations" excludes them.
