Three to four time per day, Hitler received injections of dangerous drugs and bizarre substances from his personal physician, Dr. Theodor Morell....The doctor’s hypodermic contained amphetamines, methamphetamine, cocaine, steroids (Hitler’s volcanic temper may have been due to “roid rage”)...
We know the contents of Hitler’s injections because Morell kept a detailed diary that hasn’t been translated into English until now. The doctor’s diary has credibility because he never intended it to be published.
Morell kept a medical diary of the drugs, tonics, vitamins and other substances he administered to Hitler...This fragmentary list of representative ingredients would have seemed somewhat less shocking during the 1940s: amphetamines, Atropa belladonna, Atropine, caffeine, chamolile, cocaine via eyedrops, E. Coli, enzymes, Eukodol (a trade name for Oxycodone), Glyconorm, Mutaflor, methamphetamine, morphine, strychnine, Oxedrine Tartrate, potassium bromide, Prophenazone, proteins, and lipids derived from animal tissues and fats, sodium barbitone, sulfonamide, testosterone, and vitamins.
The numerous examples of 'drug' use in prehistory suggests that they may have played an important role in our imaginative development. For example, we now know that the flowers associated with Neanderthal burials had psychoactive properties (Leroi-Gouriian 1984)...
Mushrooms were also closely associated with Tlaloc and the ritual warfare carried out in his name that is known as Tlaloc warfare.
Much information there.
Prof. Paul Devereux,(Paul Devereux) an acknowledged and credentialed expert on "the anthropology of consciousness", in several of his books, among them Mysterious Ancient America also discusses in some detail various shamanistic cults and even political/social power hierarchies that were based on the use of hallucinogens, which enduced trance-like states and appeared to endow their users with transcendental powers and abilities. See Devereux - Mysterious Ancient America Chapter 7, section "Sacramental Drugs" (one of many):
Tobacco Shamans.. Also due to increased perspiration and the release of chemicals causing a drop in skin temperature, they can perform heat-defying tricks with fire, thus demonstrating their elemental mastery.
Of course, in traditional Western History, much is known about the Oracle at Delphi of the Greeks Pythia - the Oracle at Delphi .
During this period the Delphic Oracle was the most prestigious and authoritative oracle among the Greeks. The oracle is one of the best-documented religious institutions of the classical Greeks. Authors who mention the oracle include Aeschylus, Aristotle, Clement of Alexandria, Diodorus, Diogenes, Euripides, Herodotus, Julian, Justin, Livy, Lucan, Ovid, Pausanias, Pindar, Plato, Plutarch, Sophocles, Strabo, Thucydides, and Xenophon.
The name 'Pythia' derived from Pytho, which in myth was the original name of Delphi. The Greeks derived this place name from the verb, pythein (πύθειν, "to rot"), which refers to the decomposition of the body of the monstrous Python after she was slain by Apollo. The usual theory has been that the Pythia delivered oracles in a frenzied state induced by vapors rising from a chasm in the rock, and that she spoke gibberish which priests interpreted as the enigmatic prophecies preserved in Greek
Recent research indicates that the power of the Oracle was also linked to/derived from, some sort of natural hallucinogen which was emitted from the rock structures surrounding the cave of the Oracle: Pythia -Scientific explanations
(Here is another interesting connection between meth and WW2, with some apparent photographic evidence: "Meth was used in Japan in WW2 - they gave it to their Kamikaze pilots")
Although, in contrast to the ancient examples, Hitler's use of substances is not directly linked historically to his enormous political power, it does seem plausible that a connection indeed existed, as Sanello intimates. ('Hitler’s volcanic temper may have been due to “roid rage”'). Cocaine and meth would certainly be useful "fuel" for powering Hitler's oratorical exploits, so important to his rise to power, as well as endowing him with the ability to terrorize and intimidate his political foes with his remarkably fierce and aggressive demeanor.
A) We have historical examples of the link between the use of substances and the attainment/maintenance of power and their connection to warfare.
B) We find that Hitler was rather 'liberal' in his use of substances that might aid him in the acquisition and maintenance of his power or induce fantasies of world domination, or inspire him to wage extensive wars of conquest.
So, can we cite direct links that will confirm that substances aided Hitler (or others) in such manner. i.e. Do we have testimony or documents saying something to the effect of "Before every speech, Hitler took an injection of cocaine or meth and that was the source of his great oratorical prowess." Or "Hitler made liberal use of cocaine and meth to maintain his fierce, cold demeanor which struck terror or awe into the hearts of others - this was critical to his rise to power". Or "Hitler's fantasies of world Aryan domination were drug induced"?
