comment What evidence supports the claim that Shivaji's father was Muslim?
First, I do not question the paternity of Shivaji. But how does saying something about a Muslim pathan malign the great image of Shivaji?

comment How come Indians were not mass converted to Islam/Christianity?
Because, unlike Africa, India was controlled directly not by the British government, but by the East India Company till 1858. Their main aim was profits, not propagation of religion.

comment How come Indians were not mass converted to Islam/Christianity?
@St.SJ No, the Mughals controlled a large part of the land through vassals. The Rajputs, for example, controlled a large part of modern-day Rajasthan.

comment What was Hitler's attitude towards the Aryans of India?
@coleopterist The Abwehr, as you might know, was staunchly anti-Nazi, and did not believe in the racial policy of the Nazis. But, for most Germans, even upper caste Indian Aryans were not acceptable. For example, India's first president Rajendra Prasad was of upper caste, but was badly beaten up by the Nazis in Vienna.

@FelixGoldberg While the question is related to the above, it is not identical since it deals with Hitler's attitude on Indians racial character. That's why I am answering it.

comment Why did the attempts to keep Africa colonized after World War II fail?
But from what I understand, colonialism both in Africa and Asia, especially under the British, saw remarkably little bloodshed. And, most of the locals remained illiterate and thus had fewer nationalist leaders.

comment How severe was the 1943 Bengal Famine?
However, I agree with you that his tirades on India were not actual British policy. But that is because the British cabinet was actually a coalition of three parties, and Churchill's animus towards India was not shared by the other members of the cabinet.
