comment Racism through History
One might say that racism was one of the causes of colonialism. See the white man's burden. Though this was in 1899.

comment Is the claim that Hitler came to power democratically justified?
In the last elections in 2009 in India, the biggest party had about 28% voteshare. The second biggest had about 26%. But the difference in actual parliamentary share came out to be more than 15% of total seats. Depending on the exact mechanism, a party may not need a majority of the vote share to win an election (or to form a government).

comment Who was the last US president who did not start a war?
I am not sure, but AFAIK Obama didn't start a war, merely continued the ones his predecessor started.

comment What was more expensive to lose in a gladiatorial fight: a gladiator or a rare animal?
Are you sure the animals were trained? I can understand gladiators being trained, but would you really train a tiger? Plus, I understood gladiator fights as being a tool to entertain and please the general populace, the economics might have been secondary.

comment Was there actually a project by the Nazis to create supernatural monsters/weapons?
@Sardathrion: I went over the top 2-3 results on amazon, and I tend to concur with DVK's views. None of the summaries of the researched/reviewed books talk about any projects, just the influence of the Occult on Nazi ideology, especially Himmler.

comment Were there any well known royal dynasties that did not in some way cite religious mandate for their rule?
AFAIK, Indian rulers did not claim it to be so. But that's hardly any proof, so I wont put it up as an answer.

comment How did the US/South Vietnam lose the Vietnam war?
@JimThio Do you know how many people got slaughtered while the war was being fought? War, by definition is based on killing people to achieve your aims. The My Lai Massacre should give a good idea of what happens in a war.

Out of the 190 countries in the world, any particular reason to look at only two? And any sources to back up your claims of democracy or lack of it would be good too.
