What's the name of the (false) assumption that people in past ages were less able to reason? Exceptionalism? |

Is there a link between national debt/trade deficit and starting a war? @MarkC.Wallace Thanks for mentioning, I will not interpret it as criticism, I assume the risk of a question being closed every-time I post a question. |

Is there a link between national debt/trade deficit and starting a war? @MarkC.Wallace I will answer to both your points: (1). I edited the post. (2) In FAQ and about pages around all SE sites editing and commenting to improve both Q&A is recommended. |

Is there a link between national debt/trade deficit and starting a war? @T.E.D. It coul be chained causation or a vicious cycle doesn't mean that is only a correlation, it can be that it is just the „no worse off than before” scenario mentioned by DVK. I don't exclude correlation but it should be other argument or data because war makes debt doesn't solve what started that war in the first place. |

Is there an Arnold J Toynbee student to say about the state and fate of Western Civilization? @Luke I understand why I made a few mistakes and omissions, I am not a native English writer/speaker, I edit it, if you don't understand please tell me what and I will try to rephrase it. |

World Wars and economic crises? @Sardathrion Agree with you, but maybe without it Germany would have gone the way it had after WWII. |

When and why China started to make a difference in the superpower arena? @RISwampYankee It's not about like it or not, but also USA and Europe are not doing like in their heydays, if you look at this indicators: economic growth, debt levels and highly skilled labour force. O, its not that China has come at the level of Soviet Union, but that US and Europe are somehow some lesser of a superpower, and the proof for that is Russia which is becoming to be seen again as a superpower and its way below its Soviet times. |

When and why China started to make a difference in the superpower arena? @Russell So probably you are right and Deng_Xiaoping rule was the „baking time”. And can be also that after the fall of the Iron Curtain, Europe and US began a shopping spree to celebrate the victory. |

When and why China started to make a difference in the superpower arena? @Russel In your Wikipedia link I found this self-explenatory image: GDP of China between 1952-2005 it seem that the GDP started exploding after 1992, it seems that Soviet Union leaved the baton to another country. |

When and why China started to make a difference in the superpower arena? @Luke I didn't thought about that, I thought more about when it started to make a difference, and be also an economic superpower not just a military superpower that has the nukes. |
