@andy256 I did not specify in the question, because I don't want the answer to be limited to a particular religion/culture. I am interested in anything might have influenced the content of Isra and Mi'raj.

About the edits, I acknowledge them, but I still maintain that Dante's work is the Comedy, not the Divine Comedy, where the adjective was added by later commentators (Boccaccio, if I remember correctly).

comment Are modern Greeks related to the ancient Greeks?
I disagree with your explanation. Based on language only, we would assume that modern Turkish people are descendent of Seljuk, Ottoman or other Turkic people. Well, genetics suggest that Turkish people are much more similar to Europeans and Middle East people than they are to Turkic people. For the language quite the opposite is true (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Genetic_history_of_the_Turkish_people)

comment Did the Roman Empire extend as far north as the Romans could grow wine?
There is an alternate theory, which states that the Romans expanded North as far as the Celtic civilization had done. The theory states that (limited to these regions) the Celtic society was still a "profitable" conquer for the Romans, while societies less structured than that (like the Germans') were not. As for the wine, consider that the range of a crop can change over time due to changes in global/local climate as well as in the varieties selected by farmers.

comment Why did Italy abandon its alliance with Germany in WW1 and join the Allied side?
@TomAu I disagree that Italy and Germany were allied "basically against Austria". They were allied primarily against France, which (from the Italian point of view) was preventing Italy from annexing the Papal States. This is a well known fact, as proven also by the outcome of that war.

@TomAu I disagree. Italy and Germany had been allied against France in 1870.

comment At what point did Soviet armored units have qualitative parity with Wehrmacht armored units?
This seems a good answer, but I'd rather see some references before upvoting :)

At one instance the Germans managed to destroy the tank I know that story, I had a link to an excellent WWII website, but have lost it. Will try to dig it up.
