Did Heisenberg undermine the German atomic bomb by deliberately hiding his expertise from the Nazis? @Anixx - be careful - Tom Au did not say that he "wanted to be ethical"; you may have your own opinion on this but you're falsely putting words into Tom Au's mouth here. |

Could you help me identify this photograph that was taken shortly after World War 2? It's quite clearly the left-hand wall in this photo. +1 |

Who were the Catholic popes before Francis I who used names not of Latin, Greek or Jewish origin? @choster - I would have expected nothing else. :) |

Are “I, II, III, …” versions of archaeological versioning of layers unique to Troy? Is it standard? Don't know. It it unique to Troy? No way - Uruk at least uses it too: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uruk#Historic_periods_of_Uruk |

Muslim population in Islamic Iberia Córdoba was at one time the largest city in Europe, possibly the world, (whatcordoba.com/history-cordoba.html, en.wikipedia.org/wiki/C%C3%B3rdoba,_Andalusia) and had the largest mosque in the west. I've no definitive figures (so comment rather than answer) but the population must have been quite significant. |

Have the current polar ice caps receded further than those that existed before the beginning of the last Ice Age? We're actually still in an ice age; just a nice interglacial part of one, but still an ice age nonetheless. |
