A Canadian geek, finishing off a chemistry degree. I typically hang around TeX.SX as I like the community and learn things by reading the questions. I'm also active on RPG.SX and History.SX.

revised Best books on the politics behind WWII
The 3rd book was not on politics, it was on economics and the explotation of the workers. Added some more books. Clarified why I added them.

comment What is the most widely accepted theory on the ancient “Sea Peoples”?
Wikipedia also has a habit of portraying fringe theories as equally valid, even when they have been dismissed by serious researchers.

comment What effect did tanks have on warfare strategies upon their introduction?
Am I the only one who thinks this seems a touch too general?

comment What happened to the S.A. (Sturmabteilung; “Stormtroopers”) after The Night of the Long Knives?
The fact Hitler was trying to recreate the German military at the time- While it is possible they were simply disbanded it seems more likely they were absorbed by the army or the SS, but either way I'm interested in seeing some documentation for it.

comment What happened to the S.A. (Sturmabteilung; “Stormtroopers”) after The Night of the Long Knives?
Thanks for the detailed source, but I'm more intrested in what became of the structure of the organization. I know they lost political power & the ability to arrest, but what actually happened to groups like the private air force & the engineering division that they had commanded? Did the S.S. absorb them? Did they disband? Etc.

Noticed there was a Germany tag, so I added it.

comment Why was Africa never really colonized?
Or Canada (Also by the British), or South America by the Spanish. It is actually a pretty good question. I've posted up some class notes and a theory, but would love to see a more well-researched answer.

comment Are modern handguns a major reason for democratization?
Supporting this is the fact that Britain had very, very low personal weapon ownership rates until very recently, yet was one of the words first democracies.

comment Which 11 countries were democratic in 1941?
@txwikinger I was just trying to figure out why it was only 11, since if we have 12 now, but Australia has been around and democratic since 1901. It came to mind as one of the WWI themes a class I'm in is exploring is the interruptions of democracy during WWI- They might have considered similar situations in WWII.
