Has a state ever “attacked” another one by printing fake money? @Jake this is history we're talking about here. There are no unbiased sources. |

How was Israel able to build a powerful military within days of the formation of the state? @WladimirPalant No part of the world has seen constant conflict in the same way the middle east has, and much of the conflict has been centered around Jerusalem. The first walls were erected in the 17th century BC (hence my comment about being closer to 1948BC than 1948AD) and walls are not erected just for show. The history between the Jewish tribes and surrounding Arab states (depending on your definition of Arab) has been violent for thousands of years. |

How was Israel able to build a powerful military within days of the formation of the state? "the conflict didn't start in 1948" - it started closer to 1948BC than 1948AD, for sure! |

When did steel first appear? @Lohoris Yes, but should a bad question be answered? Or should it be closed? That's the question at hand. |

When did steel first appear? @Lohoris That's not what I meant to type. :) The comment is supposed to read "but the asker isn't responsible for this answer". |

What Factors Contributed to the Success of Certain “Long March” Strategies? @doug I couldn't disagree more. Even in the original context, I feel it's perfectly valid. I don't see the need to cover every long march strategy ever in order to draw parallels and patterns. For example "I often get heartburn when I eat fast food". I don't need to eat at every taco joint in town to make that statement; instead I can look at the ones I'm aware of and what foods I eat, how I eat them, and what other factors contribute to my heartburn. History is an analysis of historical fact. The phrase "history repeats itself" would be meaningless if you couldn't draw patterns! |

When did steel first appear? @Lohoris but the asker isn't responsible for this question. I suspect the proper course of action would have been to vote to close the question, with an appropriate comment indicating why. |

Why is Christopher Columbus credited for “discovering” America? Well, the continual contact was bolstered by two main aspects: 1) He was able to return, and 2) He was able to generate continued interest (because it was profitable). |
