comment Have historians envisioned how World II would have developed without Churchill as Prime Minister of Britain?
Hmm, comparing "if we fail" with the context of the question ("without Churchill as Prime Minister"), I find here only a suggestion that Britain would lose the war without him. It would be all OK if it was stated by Churchill himself, but it wasn't, it's basically your opinion. This leads to a question if we should count it as being made by a recognized historian. :)

comment Most fought over piece of land?
Hmm I don't find any particular area of Polish (or ex-Polish) land which would be worth to mention as an answer. There were always times of war and peace.

comment Why are the Portuguese so obsessed with salted codfish?
Thanks for the recommendation, I'm writing a story set in the medieval times with salt being a highly important prop and I may found there something interesting for me.

Welcome to our website. Please take a look at our FAQ and than try to change your question a bit, e.g. in this style: history.stackexchange.com/questions/1642/… as it's a nice example of a similar thing.

While the answer is fine itself, I wonder how this definition treats Australian Continent, with it's 30-40 millions of population.

comment Why didn't Ronald Reagan become Republican candidate for the President of the USA in 1976?
+1 Very interesting, thanks! All the mathematic of American elections are so far from European systems, that I would never figure it out, the same with "Eastern Establishment" which I wasn't aware of. While I'm already digging through the related articles, adding some sources / links would greatly improve the answer.

comment Who was the first woman ruler?
He (James) died around 80 years ago. She (Hatshepsut) died around 3600 years ago. I refer to the fact that his researches were done around a century ago. And during the 20th century there was such a civilization jump, that we can now have completely different view on the subject.

Thanks a lot! +1 and possible accept. It turns out I should remember Nitocris, as she's mentioned in one of two most famous Polish novels about ancient times (Pharaoh by Bolesław Prus, the second one being the Nobel winner Quo Vadis by Henryk Sienkiewicz).
