Of course he was Polish - his name is Krzysztof and it's definitely a Polish one.

comment Why didn't France and UK invade Germany September 3rd 1939?
I totally agree with that. There are many historians in Poland who believe that if Poland did anything to stop Germans from taking over Czechoslovakia, things would be much different. But instead of acting, Poland took the opportunity to grab some arguable land too.

comment How were small swords worn in the 18th century?
I believe they were meant to be hidden under the ribs of the opponent.

comment Why were there no religious wars in Poland?
A very short answer to Felix's question - the vision of Poland as a clearly Catholic country is an early 20th century invention, taking birth with all nationalism movements that were popular among Europe. And it wasn't realized before WWII and ethnic migrations organized by ZSSR and communist government. So it's safe to assume that they just passed away.

comment Context for this 1871 humorous map of Europe?
+1. But the words about Poland are rather surprising for me, only 8 years after the last uprising. I'd love to see similar map some 20 years later, when the situation at Balkans changed a lot.

comment Battles won by much weaker side
We shouldn't forget South Korea games against Italy and Spain during World Cup '02. Both won by much weaker side, with a big help of referees.

comment What is the mark next to the hallmark on this silver object?
Yes, I'm curious what it is, or rather what kind of people used it. Some 19th century journalists?
