Was Russo-Polish of 1919-1920 a war of independence? Technically, only some parts of (todays) West Ukraine and Belarus belonged to Crown of Poland, rest belonged to Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, that is Grand Duchy of Lithuania. As for reasons why it happened, I have to disagree with you a bit - see my answer. |

Why did Hitler attack the Soviet Union when he was still busy fighting the United Kingdom? @Wladimir: Thanks, I will certainly take a look. For now I only read Mark Solonin's books, which presented fairly different point of view, but I am always keen to learn more... Unfortunately, it seems that history will always be subjective as we people tend to be biased... |

Where was the pre-war (ww2) border between Poland and Germany? Please keep in mind that Poland also had a border with occupied Czechoslovakia, and I believe that is another thing to be taken into account (Germans actually attacked from this direction too). I can't really tell you if you should count Czechoslovakia as part of Germany (at least some part of it was formally joined to it on the basis of the Munich Treaty) or as another, though occupied country, but still this is something to be considered. |
