comment Which came first: polytheism or monotheism?
@Matthaeus: The question, as it stands is, "Is there any evidence..." That is certainly answerable--and answered.

@Matthaeus: That would be an interesting question, but is obviously quite different from this one.

comment What is the age of the oldest written proof of Christianity?
@Armin: Not with great reliability. There are much more accurate ways to pin-point the time of a well-known historical event (such as Christianity) than dating the paper on which it is mentioned.

@Armin: That's right above the 'New Testament' section of the same wikipedia page. But those books pre-date Christianity.

@Armin: Historians use many methods to date ancient texts, I'm hardly familiar with them all. A lot of it is educated guess work. It can also analyze the contents of the literature, not just the physical media on which it is printed.

"The proven age of Christianity" is approximately the day that Christ was (claimed to have been) resurrected. But if your question is specifically what is the oldest known existing manuscript to mention Christianity, that's a slightly different (although still interesting) question.

@Armin: Age of the written manuscript isn't the only way to determine authenticity. But if that's the sort of evidence you're specifically looking for, it would be good to spell that out a bit more explicitly in your question.

Many of the books of the Christian Bible predate 116.

comment How tall was George Washington?
This answer basically seems to confirm the question: Sources say he was 6'0"-6'3". I was hoping for something more thorough. I realize no consensus will ever be reached (barring uncovering new evidence), but I would be interested to see a summary of the available evidence for the various opinions. Your answer does offer evidence for both the 6'2" and 6'3½" measurements, but not much in the way of an analysis, or evidence for the other prevailing views.

@Voitcus: I almost always do that, but considering the context, and that all relevant historical records are in imperial units, I didn't do that this time.
