What were the reasons for the Renaissance / scientific revolution in Europe? Not good enough for a true answer, but wanted to bring it up: I can imagine the Christianization (and thus, pacification) of the Vikings certainly helped relieve some tension. Their lack of complexity in their military tactics / tech allowed European military technology to stay pretty stagnant for a while. |
