Why were people from the Asian Steppes able to militarily dominate Europeans on a repeated basis? I highly doubt that there was a period when Germanic peoples lived in Asia. The proto-Germanic Urheimat was in Scandinavia and modern-day Denmark. upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/d/d0/… |

Is there any evidence that the catholic church reduced innovation during the middle ages? @ihtkwot of course it was not a Church's innovation. The Church itself originates as a corporation under Empire's corporate law. |

Was Hitler's genocide of the Jews “different” from other mass killings? @J. Katzwinkel indeed, there were differences. Surely this answer can be expanded. For example, in Iraq's case the life to life was not generally violated (the atrocities were preceded by a massive announcement/warning campaign to make the Kurds to leave the prohibited areas so that the abiding Kurds were not mostly affected). |

Was Hitler's genocide of the Jews “different” from other mass killings? @Sardathrion from Stalin's correspondence it is clear that the famine was undesirable for him and he questioned the subordinates for the causes. The famine did not affect only Ukrainians. |

Was Hitler's genocide of the Jews “different” from other mass killings? @Sardathrion there was no deliberate in the alleged killing of Ukrainians, neither it was targeting any ethnic group. Regarding Mongols in Chine, I think it could be included, but I have little information about this event (I considered inclusion of Mongols' killings in Russia though). |

Was Hitler's genocide of the Jews “different” from other mass killings? @Nathan Cooper I understand the question as "what makes the Holocaust unique" so I think besides numbers other things may be considered (international cooperation, ethical justification etc). |
