Please, reopen this question. I can answer it. The first known treaty determining the borders was concluded in 2100 BC in Mesopotamia between Lagash and Umma, the first known treaty in Europe was concluded in 493 BC between Rome and Latin League, the first known treaty in Europe that deals with borders was Peace of Callas in 450 BC.

comment What is the historical evidence behind the claim that the Soviet armies perpetrated mass rapes during their stay in Germany?
@default locale I disagree. Evidence for individual events does not add or change anything in historical understanding. Only estimates of the numbers have historical value. That the individual events happened or could happen is not a point of controversy. What is controversial is the extent.

comment What is the historical evidence behind the claim that the Soviet armies perpetrated mass rapes during their stay in Germany?
The Gulag Archipelago is a narrative novel, not a research work. It has many acknowledged and deliberate anti-Soviet lies, but Solzhenitsyn had dismissed all criticism by pointing out that the book is a work of art rather than a scientific source.

comment Early modern vs late modern vs post modern?
Well, here in Russia modern is traditionally counted to 1917, so roughly to WWI, in other cases to the beginning of the XX century. I never heard it being extended to WWII.
