Was there a text as revolutionary regarding humanitarism as the New Testament in a pre-Christian era? If only I see Annix's answer as explicitly offtopic flaming and trolling then I don't want to be part of this site. I've been watching that guy for some time and he is strongly biased on certain topics (another way to put it is that he is a revisionist) so good luck with him. |

Was there a text as revolutionary regarding humanitarism as the New Testament in a pre-Christian era? Related to what you said, the Jewish priests usually say that Jewish communists involved in mass murders are no longer Jews, even though the principle of Judaism is that one is a Jew for eternity. Hardly anyone dares to argue with that, so why the double standards when it comes to Christians? |

Was there a text as revolutionary regarding humanitarism as the New Testament in a pre-Christian era? So it took a few paragraphs of offtopic anti-Christian prejudices to actually post something on topic. Anyway, I never said that sinners are no longer Christians - rather that through history we haven't seen many of those who really followed all of Jesus teaching (so real Christians vs members of Christian churches). And this question is about Jesus teaching as depicted in New Testament and not the wrongdoings of people who belonged to the church - I was rather clear about that. |

Was there a text as revolutionary regarding humanitarism as the New Testament in a pre-Christian era? You are completely missing the point. Jesus was not a politician fighting for human rights. His teaching was about embracing suffering AND not doing harm to other human beings. You also took "love your neighbour" literally as practical concept... It is clear you have had hardly any exposure to New Testament so why do you even bother to answer? BTW I am really amused by your praise of Roman "high humanitarian standards". Did your Romans happen to promote the idea of giving EVERYTHING to the poor for example? |
