An avid amateur cook, I like to experiment with fusion dishes, usually with asian flavours. Also a rampant vegerian, which makes cooking much more interesting. Originally trained in Italian cooking, and in an Israeli Navy galley. Currently beginning to take an interest in Middle-Eastern cooking, which is much more than it seems at first glance.

Was there a text as revolutionary regarding humanitarism as the New Testament in a pre-Christian era? Today's standards with regards to harshness/cruelty/ruthlessness (in what calls itself Western Civilzation) are at best from the last 100 years. Even during the industrial revolution life was harsh by today's standards, Dickens would make a good example of this. |

Were there any conquests that Ancient Rome undertook explicitly to gain control of a natural resource? Have you been playing Sid Meier's Civilization recently? |

Why aren't the Americas named after Christopher Columbus I added the references that support my position. However, there are several competing theories. You can find a good summary at uhmc.sunysb.edu/surgery/america.html |

When and where did socks become common? +1 for a very good answer. I'm working on a theory whereby socks are a good way of measuring the state of a civilization. I shall have to put more effort in to finding out what went on in China. I will also need to correct for tropical/desert peoples, with much less need for socks. |
