What options India had other than getting its independence from Britain? Why the down-vote? |

Why Americans like to enroll in military services despite huge risks involved? @TomAu, I think this is slightly wrong. If anything, the US had one of the most legal and "happy" revolutions ever. In fact, you could say that China is a bloodier place since the Boxer rebellion, Taiping rebellion, Civil war...were all bloodier than Americans wars. To combat you quotes, I quote Mao Zi Dong: "A revolution is not the same as inviting people to dinner...A revolution is an act of violence by which one class overthroughs another. But, China is not a blood thirsty place, nether is America. Anything can be stated and backed up with rationalization, but rationalization is a fallacy. |

Obama: Syria chemical weapons are a ‘red line’ @harold Because 1) China and Russia don't want anyone to interfere (because it could be used as a president for invading Authoritarian regims stated above) 2) Syria hasn't used the weapons yet. |

Why does the United States of America support Israel against Iran? 1) All the US navy has to do is stay out of the gulf.Aircraft Carriers. 2) History is always in the past. 3) The North Koreans also had a missile (?The tip should be pointy" Aladeen said) bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-17698438 4) In response to all the military talk, we can look at Sadam Husain. He had the 5 largest millitary in the world, but they were buried in their trenches when Shock and Aw was launched. The technology difference between Iran and the US is huge. 5) You are right though, the last thing the US wants to do is go to war. |

Why does the United States of America support Israel against Iran? 1) If the US was to collapse, how'd China get payed it's bonds? Trust me, China doesn't want a collapse of the US. 2) Yes Israel has does things, it controls the Suez. 3) Iran has no power to destroy the US navy. All the US has to do is keep its navy out of the Gulf. 4) There is a difference between a bomb, and the ability to deliver the bomb. That was what the space race was about; the ability to build a missile to deliver your bomb (Iran has no missiles capable of reaching the US.) 5) I'm really sorry about this, but your question is off topic and so, I'm going to have to vote to close it.;( |

What historical conditions (culture, technology, events, etc.) contributed to China's current lead in population? I'm not sure that sanitation, hygiene, and medical culture was the cause at all. According to Geroffry Blainy, in his book A Very Short History Of the World, The black death of 1348 was not unique. It must have struck centuries earlier in Asia or Africa, but it left behind no detailed record of it's casualties." Blainy, though I cannot find it, also mentions a huge Chinese city hit by a plague, and lost much of it's population. |
