comment What, if anything, did Native Americans know about the rest of the world?
@T.E.D. According to my reference, the Formosa hypothesis is obsolete, too. Genetic tests prove that. so, they are NOT corrabortion, but disprovement of your variant.

religion, political views, money/land, hunger, pure survival, climate change - all of them sometimes become the main reason.

comment Would the USA staying out of WWI have prevented WWII?
Extremely interesting thought! +1. But America HAD to enter the war. Because France and England lent more and more money and USA couldn't let its debtors lose. So the hypothetical situation could happen only if USA gave money and weapon to both sides during all the war. But this way the Germany would definitely win. And the whole situation could repeat, only with the change of sides - Social revolution in Austria, Fascism in France and so on.

comment Why did the US insist on invading Japan instead of blockading it in WWII?
@Alex The Japan-Soviet treaty was dissolved 1 day before Hiroshima. And if attacking the Japan by land was a mistake, what was the second bombing then? ... Nobody thought on A-bombing as a final stroke then. Nobody knew what it means.
