comment Are modern Greeks related to the ancient Greeks?
Meredith poor . well, there can be common ancestors among many ancestors.so it is possible that the number of ancestors can be less in reality than that number you suggested. How come Incas can be ancestors to Greeks ?

comment Alexander's seizure of “Brahmin” towns
@bhau Maybe she is correct. I do not agree with the aryan dravidian thoeries completely. Also the above four mentioned divisions are varnas not castes. I have read that they are different from castes. Need to find out how though.

@MonsterTruck In Artha shastra , the people who maintain law are Judges and Magistrates (King in special cases i believe) who are of the ranks of ministers. There will be panel of judges ( for civil cases) and magistrates ( for criminal cases and marriages) . If you have a dispute over land you go to the judges and file a suit. Then you will have to give statements to the clerks (also your defendant gives) Then hearing will start. You have to provide sureties till the dispute is settled. Witnesses will be bought by yourself to support your case and Judges will decide on the dispute.

comment Why did the the East-Pakistanis oppose Urdu as their national language while Indians accepted Hindi as theirs?
@Tom Au I Don't agree that Indians were less different linguistically. In fact, Indians are very different linguistically, ethnically . In fact there has been movements within India to have different nations and they failed because India took a major decision to divide states on linguistic basis and gave the local state government the power to name its own official language. so there are many official languages in India . Also i can tell you, language plays more important role in binding people than religion,in many parts of India.

I would like to add a point here. India has many official languages .at union it can either English or Hindi. But in states it wholly depends on the state government .for example, in karnataka, where i stay, the official languages is Kannada ,not Hindi or English . And we should not forget the fact that the states were later reformed on linguistic lines avoid clashes between people of different linguistic origins .

comment Why is Dravidian history ignored?
Thought of asking it. But again arya means as far as I know noble, honourable. When i was reading arthashastra's translation of Varna system. It said something like Aryas have 4 varnas and sudras were agriculturists, artisans and craftsmen. Also actors came from this sect. Basically working class. What is interesting is there is a talk about "outcasts" called antavasayin. It says anyone within arya can be cast out and can become Non-Aryas if they committed crimes. One should not forget the Kautilya's arthashastra is newest and only existing.

comment Why did baseball become more popular than cricket in the USA?
Thanks for the response. Especially the link on American cricket history was very informative. So it is correct to say that the current baseball evolved in USA and not in England and Americans took interest in developing the game because they didn't want to play cricket due to its "Britishness". Also, British were completely oblivious of the baseball's evolution after American Independence.

The theory of sunken landmass has been rendered obsolete by the plate tectonic theory. So the references to a sunken landmass found in literary works called kumari kandam cannot be considered as a credible source for the coming to a conclusion that Dravidians came from there.
