Why did Hitler attack the Soviet Union when he was still busy fighting the United Kingdom? @Noldorin True, they didn't have Spain (non-belligerent) or Switzerland (neutral), but Ireland and Russia aren't on the peninsula. I guess it's probably more accurate to say they didn't have any one left to fight on the peninsula. |

How many recorded incidents are there of attacks on Australian soil? I also "attacked" a burger at lunchtime in Brisbane today. Maybe the question should be edited to add "since European settlement" (if that's what was meant)? |

Why did Hitler attack the Soviet Union when he was still busy fighting the United Kingdom? @Massimo Very true, obviously. But if you have a look at what Germany achieved early in the war, it's almost inconceivable that it could lose from such a strong position. At the time it would have been a fair assumption. |

What are the factors that caused the new world civilizations to be less technologically advanced than the old world? @LouisRhys Regardless of what's happened in the last few hundred years, in the time period we're talking about North America still didn't have helpful grains or animals. Everything needs to be just right, or you get nowhere. |
