Hello world,

My name is not Monster Truck II and I was not born in 1920. But here is something about me that I feel comfortable sharing. I studied physics and computer science at college and enjoy reading (history, politics, and economics) and listening to music.

Belief is a tough to ascertain thing. People have different agenda --what they publicly portray may not be what they believe. If you want an answer on public portrayal (true or false) of belief then that can be answered.

+1 for the part on HRE.

Some of us wouldn't be alive if not for that --example, parents who first met because two regions were first connected by trains. We are the sum of the history --therefore we can never regret it.

That is true for the so called History Channel too.

"Quickly hide the money in household gods" --because most thieves wouldn't dare insult/cross the gods.

Perhaps some sources and other examples can be added to make this answer better. For example, you may want to mention the effect of the second world war. Different reasons always but in summary you are right.

comment Was swastika really a popular symbol among Slavs and/or ancient Indo-Europeans?
Even in India, the earliest usage has been found in the Indus Valley Civilization --which was quite different from the later Indo European culture.

comment Continent-wide common languages in human history
Do you literally mean continent wide or is that just an expression for a large area? I doubt Greek was being spoken continent wide (in the former sense). Greek had two glory periods --classical antiquity and medieval Byzantine era. In both periods, Greek usage was pretty much confined to Greece (& Co.), Asia Minor, and Egypt. If you mean latter, then see en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_lingua_francas

Yup. I did. And they are quite informative. But those links only prove that the Indian kings once reigned over parts of South east Asia. The extrapolation that South Indians settled in South China is not substantiated by any historical source that I know of. That is why I was looking for some concrete evidence.

Any sources to substantiate that claim?

comment When did the British monarch become an emperor?
That is correct. Don't know why this answer is down voted. +1 to compensate. Rory, you can perhaps clarify in your answer that Emperor of India and King of Great Britain and Northern Ireland were two different titles.

comment Why is the Ping Yuen river in Hong Kong called River Ganges?
@T.E.D. That is true. But HK and NT were pretty much unoccupied by foreigners before the British stumbled upon it. Most of the trading was concentrated around the Pearl River Delta. There were some local fishing villages here but that was it --so it is quite likely that the Indians/Portuguese/Dutch didn't come here or came, ignored, and went. Most place names in HK are either Chinese in origin or have some connection to the British period.

comment Did World War II-era bombs actually whistle?
Hmm. That can be true but I wouldn't rule out the accidental aerodynamic fault though --true streamlined bodies are a recent innovation. Any mistake with the curve means a lot of sound.

comment What events led to the fall of the Zhou Dynasty during the Warring States period?
I think we can always come up with the specific events that led to the fall (hence +1 to line's answer) but the general trend should also be recognized and respected. Hence +1 to this too.
