Hello world,

My name is not Monster Truck II and I was not born in 1920. But here is something about me that I feel comfortable sharing. I studied physics and computer science at college and enjoy reading (history, politics, and economics) and listening to music.

Here is my bookshelf:

comment Qin's use of the number six
Mr. Keay and I conversed this weekend and together concluded that cun is the right answer. Will explain more in a separate answer as the way we concluded is important but I think you deserve the credit for the correct answer.

comment Did the blanket pardon from 'The Three Musketeers' exist in real life?
@Anixx We need a source that says cardinals didn't have powers to give exemptions from the law. In almost all Catholic countries that wasn't the case in the medieval ages --the papal power was paramount to that of the sovereign's in religious matters and cardinals frequently used to bend things so as to make them "religious matters". See also Henry VIII's clash with the pope.

comment Italian History from 1870-1913: Why did Italy have such a hard time becoming a Great Power like Germany
@Person How is that relevant? Credentials mean nothing --verifiable facts are all that matter and they can come from a farmer or a doctor.

I am reaching out to Mr. Keay himself. I will post an answer if he replies.

comment Why did the USA take no action to help Pakistan during their 1971 war against India?
Also --and this is a personal hypothesis --US wouldn't have wanted a direct armed conflict with a nuclear USSR (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/…). The latter sent a nuclear sub into the Indian Ocean soon after the former deployed their warships there.

comment Why did the USA take no action to help Pakistan during their 1971 war against India?
Simple answer because it was not in their interest. Kissinger answers this exact question in his documentary (although very vaguely). I can't recall the exact text so refraining from replying --but if anyone has that documentary they can post what he said here.

The Qin's were around 221 B.C.

Was the cun used around that age or was that a later addition?

comment How was Israel able to build a powerful military within days of the formation of the state?
@Russell That you answered --mass conscription. But an army is more than people. The infrastructure existed already.

comment How was Israel able to build a powerful military within days of the formation of the state?
@Russell The British did leave but the Haganah/IDF/Jewish Brigade etc… (some of which were technically part of the British army before) didn't. They were reorganised into the modern day IDF (Israel Defense Forces).

Just because a question is obvious does not mean it should be closed. I think that someone who does not know much history is entitled to ask this question and those who know history have a duty to answer it. I won't +1 to compensate because I really don't like the question but I'll vote to reopen.
