comment Was democracy present in India before British colonization?
Though I agree with much of your answer I think the focus of the answer needs to be on just prior to British involvement. The OP stated " I found one weak reference to democracy in 600 BC but that hardly counts as pre-British. Was democracy present in India when British colonization began?" That being said your argument of "can you rally talk about representative and democracy?" does make sense. I suppose a more clearly defined type of democracy from the OP would be needed in order to answer this question with more ease.

comment Mexico has the right to possess firearms?
@SevenSidedDie Why the tone? ... As for History.SE not becoming a failed beta: With such a propensity to comment you could defiantly do more to help History.SE avoid failing. Perhaps you should apply yourself a little more in the question and answer portion of the site. Your current involvement in what matters consists of 2 questions and 1 answer, while your comment total is through the roof and at times quite critical.

comment Mexico has the right to possess firearms?
@SevenSidedDie "According to the 1857 Constitution and also the 1917 Constitution, you're allowed to bear firearms." This seems to be the historical portion of the question.
