comment How did Richard I sail through the strait of Gibraltar?
Interesting! I knew it was never as simple as backward Arabs :) Regarding the conquest of Silves, I'm not familiar about the naval tactics or sailing in general, but how did that help the sailing of the Strait of Gibraltar? Looking at the map, looks like the Northern Iberia were already at Christian hands anyway, so what were the big difference between Lisbon and Silves?

comment Duchy and Electorate of Saxony during the Schmalkaldic War
Ok, I understand now. Both of them are dukes, it's just the matter of which duke is also an elector. What do you mean by co-sovereign and true peers?

comment Duchy and Electorate of Saxony during the Schmalkaldic War
Thanks. How big was the Albertine territory compared to the Ernestine? Were they independent, or was there a feudal/vassalage relationship? And why did JF I become Duke after the capitulation (as opposed to, just not having any title)?

comment Why were Albanians the only nation in the Balkans who converted to Islam during the Ottoman occupation?
This answer does not explain the difference between Albania (and Bosnia) vs others in terms of their present Muslim population

Koenigsberg/Kaliningrad or Tibet is an exception rather than the norm. Most of the territories occupied by the USSR during the WW2 are now independent from the USSR (e.g. Poland, East Germany, Baltic states). In the west, for example France, Austria or Western Germany wasn't annexed by the UK or the US. Honestly I think the USSR and China got away with all those because they have veto powers rather than because the international community approved them.

comment What was Muhammad's religion before becoming a Muslim prophet?
@BattleofKarbala as Lohoris and Jeroen pointed out, in this question I am looking for the historian's point of views as opposed to Islamic tradition. I understand the Quran is the main source of Islamic tradition, but I don't think it's generally treated as a history book. I guess Muslim historians are okay, if you have such source, as long as it is written objectively based on historical/scientific method, not merely drawn from scripture.
