Were Soviet warships allowed to use the Panama canal? Do you have any citation that the canal was closed to Soviet warships? The article you linked says that the transit had no political significance as the canal is "open to all the world's ships". |

Were Soviet warships allowed to use the Panama canal? @DarekWędrychowski, when I google those terms, I'm not seeing any actual answers to this question. |

Why Californian Indian leader Estanislao was named after Polish martyr? As someone who's spent a whole lot of time reading up on the period, I doubt you're going to find any answer to this question. |

Were does Tifinagh come from? If that link no longer worked, your question wouldn't make any sense. Fold in the information from the article you linked to. |

Why didn't the silk road run north of the Black Sea? Lack of roads, hostile nomads. |

Were any of the early settlements in America attacked from the sea? A little outside the range you're asking about, but pirates knocked over Monterey, California in 1818. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/… |

In the Medieval period, how long would an average swordsmith need to forge an average sword? @Pulsehead, that was with a coal forge, hammer, tongs, anvil, and a foot-pedalled grinding wheel. We all trained on the hand tools before moving on to powered equipment. |

In the Medieval period, how long would an average swordsmith need to forge an average sword? Studying blacksmithing at UC Santa Cruz, making a good knife only took me a weekend, and that was as a student who didn't know much yet. I'd be amazed if a sword took more than a few weeks, tops. |
