Why does Islam seem so much more like Judaism than it does like Christianity? Christians hold Christ himself to be the supreme revelation of God, to be the Word of God himself. The Scripture is acknowledged to be written by human authors with the divine inspiration of the Holy Spirit, but the exact manner in which this inspiration is expressed is debated among the various traditions. |

Why did Carter force the Shah toward a more open political atmosphere in Iran? In your question, could you indicate who has claimed that Carter could force Pahlavi to do anything, and what examples can you provide that the political atmosphere in Iran after 1977 was more open in actuality? And that is before we question whether political reform was a precursor to revolution in 1979. |

Did most colleges in the United have semesters that began in September and ended in January during the 1890s? Every school sets up its own calendar, but for what it's worth, Cornell's fall semester ran September to January until 1965. I'm sure they weren't the only one. |

Are there ways to measure “how much power did ”Russia“ lose when the Soviet Union broke up?” Power can't be compared across time without hefty assumption and extrapolation; the world is constantly changing, and the Soviet Union would have been changing as well. Russia may be "weaker" in some relative terms (e.g. share of global GDP, men under arms), but so are the United States and Europe, with the rise of China and the other emerging economies, even though they are stronger in some other terms. And once you invent a mechanism for the USSR to remain intact, you venture into alternative history. |

Who were the Catholic popes before Francis I who used names not of Latin, Greek or Jewish origin? @mh01 She'll make the Castel run in less than 12 piedi. And yes, I know the pied is a unit of distance. |

Why did Chinese use high tin bronze for swords? Copper and tin ores are not generally found together in nature, and a doubling of the proportion of a primary component of an alloy can hardly be attributed to contamination. |
