Army formation: veterans at the first line I am accepting this answer because of your final comment. This is exactly what I am looking for - concrete examples of veterans in the first line. |

Army formation: veterans at the first line Yea, and if you put the youths at the back, they will never become veterans. And inexperienced warriors are cheaper. So - many reasons to put veterans at the back. That's why I am asking if the opposite happens from time to time. |

Army formation: veterans at the first line Actually I am looking for a battle in which the veterans were the front line and the first to engage! |

Army formation: veterans at the first line Could you give an example of such a battle? I would like to look it up in wikipedia and judge the results and effectiveness. |

What is the standing arch in Nagasaki made of? In this light, I guess this is better moved to skeptiks.se. What do you think? |

Continent-wide common languages in human history @ Monster Truck, I mean spoken in an area, as large at least as Europe ... but on the other hand, I wouldn't be satisfied with something, spoken in a small part of vast Asia. Hmm, good question, yours [thinking]. Also, It doesn't need to be spoken as a first language - just to be known to the extent that now nearly everyone speaks English. Maybe I should merge these clarifications in my question? |
