♦Mod on GFH.SE

I have a wide range of interests, including music, history, and math. I have been playing music for three of four years now and play the cornet, recorder, and piano. 100% of the music on my computer is classical, so you should know what genres I prefer ;). I enjoy studying any history and researching my genealogy. American English is my first language, pero tambien hablo Español. I am also currently taking Calculus 1.

comment What made Washington DC “dominate” politics in the USA?
This is just wrong. It's more like a list of fun facts than an answer. None of these make Washington D.C. dominant in politics (because it isn't). Washington D.C. is the capital of the nation. These features aren't even what made it the capital (except the second, partially). All of them (excluding the second) are simply effects of it being the nation's capital.

comment How did the Romans build straight roads that stretched very long distance?
Yes, but paraphrasing or quoting relevant portions here would solve that.

Link-only answers are susceptible to link-rot, which renders them useless. Also, some people prefer not to click links to external sites. Please paraphrase/quote the article (or relevant) portions in this answer. As it stands now, this answer in itself does not answer the question at all.

This question is pretty broad. Entire books have been written about this.

comment Was there a connection between Vietnam war violence and the climate of violence in the United States during 1968?
@Carlo_R. Cool down. Name calling and using every possible opportunity to get at Yannis is rather rude. "Civility is required at all times; rudeness will not be tolerated."

It seems this would depend on a variety of factors, but I am by no means an expert on this type of thing.

comment Ancient statue I found near my place
I wouldn't call that ancient. It looks more renaissance-era. That might be a crucifix on it. Again, could you post clearer pictures? Thanks

comment What are the historical reasons for religious and political negative attitudes towards homosexuality?
@ArjunJRao That's more a theological question than a historical one.
