Could you please suggest good resources for arranging the explanation in history of ideas? I've finished doing the research, and now I need good guides to guide me in the arrangement of the material in an effective way.
For instance, I must write on the evolution of certain calculational methods. Papers which deal with similar topics proceed as follows: context, method 1, pros/cons of method 1, method 2, pros/cons method 2, context, etc. Are there other techniques?
Resources like these are useful, but a bit introductory:
- Essaying the Past: How to Read, Write, and Think about History by Jim Cullen
Can you suggest good guides that have worked for you? Preferably, beyond the undergraduate class paper level, at the graduate or professional level.
EDIT: I've found Roberts' The Logic of Historical Explanation, PSU Press, which has what I was looking for. Would you suggest other resources along these lines?
