I’m having difficulty of reading what this fancy signature or fancy writing says on my great grandfather’s ring? enter image description hereenter image description here

  • It looks like a lowercase g (or possibly q) and a capital S, is that what you're asking, or are you looking for detail about the meaning of the letters? – drewbenn Jul 16 at 22:11

Do you know of any ancestors with those initials? (BTW the first one may be a J) – Spencer Jul 16 at 22:19

I'm on team J. I've seen some cursive capital G's that look like that, but it was uncommon (I say was because cursive is essentially obsolete, and only us oldsters still know it). – T.E.D. Jul 16 at 22:28

@user65231 context like that would have been helpful to include in the question :) – drewbenn Jul 16 at 22:40

It's a capital J separated by a line then a capital S. The other image is the symbol of the Masons. – Karlomanio Jul 17 at 17:21
