Questions about the Nuremberg Trials, including the Trial of the Major War Criminals, 1945-46, and the Subsequent Nuremberg Trials, 1946-49.
This tag is for questions about the Nuremberg Trials after WWII, including the Trial of the Major War Criminals, 1945-46, and the Subsequent Nuremberg Trials, 1946-49.
The first trial was of 24 of the most military and political leaders of the Third Reich, and is the one everyone has heard of. It was held before an international military tribunal, with American, Soviet, British and French judges and prosecutors.
The subsequent trials were held in the same building, but before a strictly US military court. They were the Doctors' trial, the Milch trial, the Judges' trial, the Pohl trial, the Flick trial, the IG Farben trial, the Hostages trial, the RuSHA trial, the Einsatzgruppen trial, the Krupp trial, the Ministries trial, and the High Command trial.
There were many other war crimes trials after WWII, including the International Military Tribunal for the Far East, trials held by governments of countries that had been occupied by the Third Reich, and trials held in the British, French and Soviet occupation zones of Germany, but none of those come under this tag.
