Tactics encompasses the deployment and maneuver of low-level units (generally battalion and lower on a modern scale) on the battlefield, to achieve military advantage. The assignment of goals for tactical achievement would be regarded as part of either Grand Tactics or Strategy. Tactics is generally the domain of NCO's and junior officers, as more senior officers should generally concentrate on Grand Tactics and Strategy.
