Were the greatest rulers from before the Classical Antiquity known by ancient historians?
Ramses II was certainly known to the ancient Greeks, as Ozymandias. Greek historian Diodorus Siculus wrote of the ancient leaders, for example.

Why is there a difference in ordinal numbers of UK General Elections and Parliaments? Was a UK Parliament ever formed without an election?
I see, so there was already a Parliament sitting at the time of the Acts of Union, which became the 1st Parliament of the 'new' UK, as the previous election had just been for the old Parliament. Great answer thanks!

What is a "Johnsonian world of clubs and coffee houses" in the context of 18th century England?
Great answer :) I wouldn't have worked out the Augustan bit. Thanks.
