Dec 21, 2017 at 15:59 | comment | added | Anton Keslov | I mean, yes through out the duration of the Soviet Union, how were the land owners effected? Where did they go? See, it is unclear, but also, the oligarchy and simple land owners. I mean the middle class folk, landowner, law abiding citizens. For those who owned property, what happened to it when/throughout communism?

Dec 20, 2017 at 18:35 | comment | added | jamesqf | @CGCampbell: The stereotypes we saw from the '50s on were photos & descriptions of how they all huddled together in those massive communal apartment blocks, no? Much like US/British inner city housing projects. Before the Communist takeover, the middle and moderately upper classes presumably had normal (by western standards of the time) houses to live in. I think the OP is asking what happened to those houses.

Dec 20, 2017 at 17:29 | comment | added | Semaphore | Welcome to History. This question is a bit unclear. Do you mean when the communists came to power, or for the whole duration of the Soviet Union? In Russia, or the Soviet republics, or in occupied regions? Please clarify.
