As for what's wrong with the term, that probably deserves its own question because the answer is going to be longer than 500 chars, and I know lots of people besides me have their own strong opinions on the matter. Suffice to say it appears to be effectively a deprecated term among professionals. Its the term I grew up with too, but we live and we learn. | |

I agree with you that the anachronistic sounding phrase...."Dark Ages", is a "very contested term". However, despite its anachronistic phraseology, The "Dark Ages" still refers to a particular period in World History that can juxtapose some of the more enlightened civilizations with some of the more unadvanced civilizations of that same time period.....(with a greater emphasis on the latter). | |

Also changed "Dark Ages" reference to "Middle Ages" since the former is a very contested term. If you don't like the edits, feel free to tweak, but the personal attacks should not reappear. | |
