Oct 30, 2015 at 13:24 comment added T.E.D. I otherwise like this answer, but the Roman religion was not just the Greek religion with different names, unless you take Roman propaganda at face value. For instance, there is no Greek equivalent to Janus. The Romans tried to push the idea that all pantheons were equivalent because it helped keep their polyglot empire together culturally. This is why monotheistic religion was initially seen as such a threat.
Jun 14, 2013 at 21:49 comment added NotVonKaiser I don't know about Mithraism... the "problem" with it was that it was a secret cult and as such we really don't know a lot about it. That includes, unfortunately, how many people were involved with it at any one time.
